Ours to Keep

Ours to Keep (Word Count TBD) by LokiOfSassgaard

Chapters: 4/?
Fandom: Thor, Loki (TV)
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: Underage, Dubcon
Pairings: Loki/Sylvie
Characters: Loki, Sylvie, Thor, Angela, Odin, Frigga

Summary: After Bor’s death, the entire family manage to make it into town for the will reading. It’s only been a few months since Loki had a close call with a car accident he probably should not have survived, which only adds to the tension of having too many people in a house with not enough beds.

But the funny thing about death is it has a way of unveiling all sorts of secrets, whether or not they have anything to do with the deceased. And for Loki and Sylvie, this has the potential to be catastrophic.

Note: This fic is being posted as a kinkmeme fill.  It may get edited at a later date.

FIC REC: Paintbox

Author: Lunik
Summary: Loki learns that when a man asks permission to paint you, sometimes he means he actually wants to paint you. More literally in some cases than others.
Word count: 4k
Characters/pairings: Loki/Steve
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: None

Rec notes: This is one of those pairings I didn’t expect to like when I first started seeing it crop up around the internet. Especially considering how this fic pre-dates Avengers 1.

But whoops, it’s one of my favourites, and one I go for when I’m looking for something quiet and thoughtful. This author especially manages to weave Loki and Steve’s personalities together to complement one another, without either seeming to undermine the other. The AU is simple, and allows those personalities to shine through without the inherent bravado and posturing that is necessary when the ship is presented in a canon-compliant setting. Steve is an artist, and Loki is his agent. This is all the fic asks you to accept in order to get these two dancing around one another while they both try to figure out what the hell Steve is actually trying to accomplish with this scheme of his.

It’s short and sweet, and more about how the characters fit together than the rating and length imply.

Her new date for the trip may be going out of his way to be as obnoxious as possible, but he’s not even close to the worst thing about this vacation from hell.

FIC REC: Despite Himself

Author: errantcomment
Summary: Loki runs a bookshop, because he likes books. Unfortunately, he only found out he didn’t like people once he’d had the grand opening. Now he spends a lot of time sulking, talking to his cat, not talking to his housemate, and sulking. Then one day, the shop bell rings and despite himself, it all changes.

Notting Hill/Avengers/Thor fusion. Mundane AU in which Steve is still a big dude but mostly he’s an architect, Natasha is a security consultant, and Thor is a Viking accountant.
Word count: 50k
Characters/pairings: Loki/Darcy, Steve Rogeres, Natasha Romanoff, Tony Stark, Clint Barton, Bruce Banner, Thor
Rating: Mature
Warnings: None

Rec notes: I have a thing for Richard Curtis and Hugh Grant, so a Notting Hill Tasertricks AU amused me greatly. Loki is a bit more Bernard Black (though, this fic does feature a cameo by Black, in reference to Moran’s role in the film) than Hugh Grant, with a complete misanthropic view of everything. His assistant Bruce has some amazing anger management issues, and only seems to keep his job because he’s useful in scaring away shoplifters. I really enjoy Tony in this as well, and Steve/Tasha as the secondary couple makes me want fic just about them in this universe.

Best of all, I think, is the side thread with Thor and Loki, and how the author kept the tension between Loki and the rest of his family without the whole genocide thing getting in the way. Instead, he just fucked off like a child and refuses to face his problems like an adult, which does feel like a rather Loki-ish way to handle problems.

It also has the kind of ending I love. Not a happily ever after, and not perfect. But satisfying. Everything feels tied up at the end, but it’s more of a slightly mangled knot than a neat little bow, which makes it feel a bit more real to me.

Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply

FIC REC: Invocation for Beginners

Author: townpariah
Summary: Had they been poor, Loki thought, people would think they were crazy, but because they had money, they were eccentric. OR: Thor’s mother is remarrying and he spends the ten days leading up to the wedding at her summer house in the countryside, getting himself acquainted with his future stepbrothers.
Word count: 7k
Characters/pairings: Loki/Thor, Gen
Rating: Teen
Warnings: None

Rec notes: I don’t often rec WIPs, because I like to wait until they’re finished to make that call. But this one, unfinished though it is, is positively charming. Melancholy and sad, with an undercurrent of mystery. The whole thing reminds me of something I can’t quite place, but I would read an entire novel based on this premise. The fic is tagged Loki/Thor, but it appears to be abandoned and never gets that far. Despite that, it ends on a wonderful note that makes it feel complete as it is. I’ve definitely subscribed though, just in case.
